Tuesday, August 26, 2014. MT KATAHDIN - Northern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. That was a great moment. I walked up to that sign and put both arms and my head to it and cried. I definitely have no regrets about choosing to hike the Appalachian Trail. I celebrated on top of Mt. Katahdin with a hiker named Dawg that I summitted with. Dawg passed a cigar over to me. The Birches to Summit Mount Katahdin. What an ending this journey! Having lived my entire life in New England, I have had many invites to climb this amazing mountain. I always declined knowing that Katahdin would be the finale of my thru-hike. I am so glad that I did it this way. The country in Baxter State Park is a perfect place to end such awesome journey.
