Tuesday, January 21, 2014. The lyrical depth of good hymns just slays me. Such poetry! Teaching at Lutheran school these days has naturally fueled an appreciation for good hymns and good singing- and opened up a whole new musical world beyond the Trinity Hymnal. In any case, I often wonder what kind of personality and life experience lie behind the greatest of hymns. It gives me a deeper understanding of the words.
