Monday, May 26, 2008. The Racist Ethos of Desktop Tower Defense. I was first introduced to the online game Desktop Tower Defense in November of 2006. Like many other game players, I was pulled in by its simplicity, accessibility, and addictive game play. However, as I put more time into DTD, I began to realize that it was not as innocuous as it had seemed at first. To the contrary, it was teeming with racist imagery and subtexts, a sort of flash-based Birth of a Nation.
